Fresh off of hot first quarter sales numbers, more people are becoming fans of the all-new Subaru XV Crosstrek Hybrid. And can we blame them? Not only does this souped-up take on the classic Impreza help reduce your carbon footprint and take a load off the environment, it's wickedly fun to drive and the perfect vehicle for your summer escape. The new Subaru XV Crosstrek is an SUV take on the Impreza, one that's been hitting the gym and taking its vitamins to become an agile, efficient, road and mountain warrior. The Subaru XV boasts a sporty design, with a more responsive and stiffer suspension, reduced weight, and of course, symmetrical all-wheel drive and partial zero emissions. True to their commitment to the environment, not only is the XV Subaru's first hybrid, it's also built in a zero-landfill plant. Waste copper left over from welding is sent to Spain for recycling, Styrofoam encasing are returned to Japan to package the next set of parts, and even small plastic parts are salvaged and melted down to make something else.
The XV is estimated at 33 MPG and features 8.6 inches of ground-clearance, deeming it exceedingly worthy for long backcountry adventures. The design, unlike the standard Impreza, begs to taken off-road, with aggressively sculpted front and rear bumpers and wheel arch covers that according to Subaru designer Masahiro Kobayashi and MotorTrend, "was inspired by the influx of technical outdoor clothing and gadgets that have found a home with today's trendy urbanites".
Subaru's newest campaign for the XV encourages drivers to "save some" - and when your driving the new XV, you most certainly are a steward for the environment. So this summer, get outside in a new Subaru, with the windows down, wind in your hair, and drive.
