Standard Features

Hyundai is famous for offering more advanced features for less in their lineup and delivering luxury-like features at an affordable price point. However, you'll get more for your money with the Subaru Forester, which includes standard all-wheel drive and convenience features like a wireless charging pad and more advanced safety features in every model regardless of trim level.

Pricing

The Hyundai Tucson appears to cost less than the Subaru Forester at first glance, but when you take into account that all-wheel drive is a $1,500 add-on, the Subaru Forester edges out the Tucson in terms of pricing and affordability. Both vehicles offer five trim level options with a similar pricing structure ranging from 31K to just over $41k for the highest tier trim level.

Performance

The new Forester has an improved 2.5-liter four-cylinder paired with a continuously variable transmission and symmetrical all-wheel drive. Although it appears weaker than the Tucson with the same size engine and slightly more horsepower, the Forester can tow up to 3,000 pounds when properly equipped, while the Tucson tops out at 2,000 pounds.

Ground Clearance

The Hyundai Tucson offers a standard ground clearance of 7.1 inches, with more robust models offering up to 8.3 inches. A higher ground clearance is desirable for drivers looking to venture off the beaten path and clear obstacles and uneven terrain. You'll be able to do more adventuring in the Forester, which offers up to 9.2 inches in the off-road-oriented Wilderness trim and four more inches than the Tucson in all other models.

Safety

The Hyundai Tucson and Forester offer advanced safety and driver assistance features. However, the Forester goes above and beyond by including adaptive cruise control and lane centering as standard features. You'll have to pay extra for the same robust package of safety equipment in the Tucson.
