Subaru Legacy vs. Toyota Camry vs. Honda Accord

2023 Subaru Legacy vs. Honda Accord and Toyota Camry: Compare Midsize Sedans for Your Cape Cod Commute

With its refined and spacious accommodations, appealing amenities, and real four-season capability, the 2023 Subaru Legacy offers one of the most well-rounded experiences in the midsize sedan class. It offers an inviting cabin with abundant headroom and legroom, a generous features list, and cutting-edge driver-assist technologies across the lineup. It's also the only mainstream midsize SUV with standard all-wheel drive, providing extra confidence in all conditions. Plus, the Subaru Legacy is backed by the automaker's proven record for reliability. Subaru has been named Kelley Blue Book's most trusted brand eight years in a row. And more than 95% of Subaru Legacy models sold in the past 10 years are still on the road today. Here's a quick look at how the Legacy compares in a few key areas to prominent class competitors, the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry.

Subaru Legacy vs. Honda Accord

  • Both the Legacy and Accord have potent turbocharged engine options, with Legacy XT models being slightly more powerful than Accord 2.0 models (260 vs. 252 horsepower). However, the Legacy comes standard with Subaru's Symmetrical All-Wheel-Drive system, giving you surefooted confidence and control in a variety of road conditions. The Honda Accord doesn't offer AWD at all.

  • The Subaru Legacy's base trim has a seven-inch STARLINK® Multimedia touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration. However, step up to any of the higher tiers, and you'll get a high-resolution 11.6-inch STARLINK® Multimedia Plus system with wireless smartphone integration. The Honda Accord comes standard with an 8-inch touchscreen; however, there's no option for a larger display, and wireless smartphone integration is only available by moving high up the trim ladder.

  • Both models have standard driver aids for collision mitigation, lane-keeping, and adaptive cruise control. However, the Legacy's Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control with Lane Centering is more capable than the Accord's comparable technology. Plus, the Subaru Legacy comes standard with adaptive headlights that turn with the steering wheel for better illumination around curves and corners. This feature isn't offered on the Accord.

Subaru Legacy vs. Toyota Camry

  • The Subaru Legacy is one of the few midsize sedans in the segment to offer all-wheel drive and the only one to equip it standard across its lineup, including the more powerful turbocharged XT trims. You can get AWD in the Toyota Camry, but it's not standard at any tier, and it's only available with the base engine.

  • The Subaru Legacy comes standard with dual seven-inch touchscreens, while the Toyota Camry has a single seven-inch display. If you're looking for a larger infotainment system, all but Legacy's base tier feature a high-res 11.6-inch touchscreen and wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. The Camry's biggest display is a nine-inch screen that requires a higher trim level. Wireless smartphone integration isn't offered.

  • The Legacy and Camry both have a suite of standard driver aids, including adaptive cruise control. However, Subaru's adaptive cruise technology is more advanced and includes lane centering. The Camry reserves "full-speed" adaptive cruise control for a higher trim level, and it doesn't have an integrated lane-centering feature.
